Selena Bush, LCSW

Qualified Social Worker and Mental Health Professional

As a qualified Social Worker I provide counseling services throughout New York State and Texas. My distinction as a Social Worker means that in addition to my training as a counselor and mental health professional, I also have more extensive training, experience and continued education that affords me extra privileges as a counselor so that I can provide clients with exceptional professional care.

A Trusted Member of the Gouverneur Community

Originally from the Gouverneur area where I currently live and run my practice, I am especially well versed in handling issues that are unique to rural areas, particularly those faced by members of the LGBTQ community and members of the Hispanic and African American communities. I understand the challenges and issues that arise in rural areas, from increased cultural adversity to challenges regarding the availability and accessibility of quality, dignified mental health care. I also recognize the enhanced need for privacy and confidentiality. While confidentiality is a standard and regulated legal obligation within my field, I also personally believe in upholding your right to privacy to every possible extent. My successful career has been built on the personal trust I build amongst my clients and my community.

My goal is always to provide you with the type of care and discretion I would expect myself.

An Experienced Counselor with an Emphasis on Continued Education

I earned my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Texas at El Paso in 2012. I completed five years of experience working in the adult inpatient psychiatric setting and am going on my third year in private practice. My passion is providing accessible counseling services when people need it the most, and I am dedicated to creating a comfortable and collaborative environment where I can help others work toward healthy therapeutic goals. I regularly participate in a variety of continued education efforts, including specialized courses in various areas of my field, right down to the administrative aspects of my practice. I have completed recent coursework specifically related to digital ethics in order to best provide you with the privacy you need, especially in a digital setting, which has become a more prominent part of counseling in modern times.

My goal is always to provide you with the type of professional care and discretion I would expect myself, and I remain committed to pursuing the education necessary to do so.
